My Candida Story

Home | More Healing Articles

WOW – I finally took my own advice from my article on "Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired" a free and easy way to check at home for Candida Overgrowth! It took me 20-some years to realize I needed to clear out my Candida. I will explain below my journey to the realization, along with what worked for me.

I was trying to remember back to my early 20's when this all started, back to when I had broken up with my boyfriend (now my husband of 23 years) AGAIN for the 50th time (that's a random number we both use to without much of a stretch). I decided to fly to California to stay with some high school friends so that I wouldn't be tempted to, once again, be talked back into going out with my (future husband). I went to a free clinic in California to be checked for what looked like some open sores in my under-regions, the doctor told me I had herpes. Devastated, I called my ex-boyfriend (future husband) and told him, to which he replied he had no symptoms. Long story short, he flew out to "rescue me" and bring me back home to NY. Not happy with my diagnosis, I went for another opinion, in which I was told I have Candida. What a relief, I thought to myself, only Candida (what the hell is Candida?) and without much further thought about it, and being a 20 year old, inexperienced, not a care in the world girl, that was probably the last time, in a long time I recall thinking or hearing of that word.

Then came the nearly 20-some years of bronchitis, on schedule just like the holidays. I tried homeopathic remedies – still it came back, acupuncture – the same, read somewhere that grief is the emotion attached to the lungs and figured I used to get really upset around the holidays since my mother had past over not long after my return trip from CA. I tried using the herb Fenugreek that I once thought would be the cure all, but alas it was not.

I have used, with some relief, these last couple of years, colloidal silver in a nebulizer. Whenever I felt the inkling that an episode of bronchitis was coming on, I would use that, and it wouldn't be so bad.

In my early contractions of bronchitis I used to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic. "Yep" I'd say to the doctor "I'm coughing up the green and brown chunks" lovely mental picture, I'm sure. And off he'd write me a prescription. Little did I know then, that the antibiotics were fueling the fire to the Candida overgrowth, something that would eventually come to an unbearable head in my 40's.

Fast forward (or backwards) to a couple of years ago when I went to my OB GYN. "What are those little cuts and itching down there"? To which she nonchalantly replied "Oh that's Candida" to which I asked "What can I do about it" and she said "Just cut down on your sugar intake". Wow, I thought, you mean those 2 cookies a day, everyday, as soon as I get home from work are affecting me? Hmm well then, let's just cut those out, and I should be okay.

Well, it was okay for a short while, until ole' perimenopause caught up with me. I then began to read Christina Northrup's book "The Wisdom of Menopause", which states that white flour and sugar need to be avoided, not only for hot flashes, but also for weight gain, and now in hindsight, to also stop feeding the Candida Yeast Monster. STILL, it didn't set off a light bulb moment in my head about Candida, and its totality of the whole situation for the last 20-some years!

You see antibiotics + sugar + refined carbohydrates = Candida. I wonder if all those sugar and butter sandwiches on Italian bread or the thick piling of sugar at the bottom of my cereal bowl every morning as a child had a start to it? Antibiotics kill good and bad bacteria in your intestine and sugar starts to feed the yeast that starts to take over. You can read more about it in my article "Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired" under the Candida heading.

So here we are, at my present day situation. I was having a problem with incessant bum itching (I can't tell you how hard it is for me to type THAT!). I read on the internet in some forum (you know, where you get all the REAL health tips and information), and someone said the ONLY way to stop the bum itch is to eat live active culture yogurt! So I ate live active culture yogurt and I thought that my bum itches were cured! NOT SO FAST. By the way, I found no earthly cream to get rid of the itching. It's ALL ON THE INSIDE, and it's ALL CANDIDA OVERGROWTH!

So I'm eating the yogurt, yea, great – the itching has stopped but my baby bump (the ole' uterine tilt out that most every women that’s been pregnant can't get rid of) is back, and I'm starting to have pain in my ovary area (another long standing health issue). I go to the OB GYN, get my customary ultrasound, "look there, your fibroids are ginourmous" well that's not what he said, but that's what it sounded like to me, to which I replied "you mean it's not my usual pain in my ovary cysts"? "No, no your fibroids are ginourmous" (again my word not his). Actually now that I think about it, I felt like I was about 4 months pregnant. So back to the internet for more information on what feeds the fibroids and another look through Christine Northrup's old lady syndrome book. Only now I find out that growth hormones and antibiotics used in the care and feeding of cows, end up in milk, which causes your fibroids to blow up like water balloons. Great, great, now my cure for Candida has to be scraped in favor of having no pinching pain in the abdomen area and people asking me how far along I am in my pregnancy. So the itching is back, I can't standing the itching, what oh what can I do about the itching (the itching can make you go a little MAD!).

I've read about Candida, I knew I had Candida, but not until I was at my wits end, did I decide after 20 frick'in years of my life to finally do something about it.

I bought a product called Three-lac, which happened to coincide with the time of year where I get to put on my "here is my bronchitis party hat" so I knew there was no time like the present. Candida – bronchitis – hadn't read anything that they are related . . . hmmm got me to thinking.

I started my Candida cleanse on a Friday (also did a parasite cleanse and a sinus cleanse with a Neti pot all at the same time – why not clean everything out like spring cleaning – except it’s fall - ANYWHO!. I felt fine on Saturday, Sunday I felt tired and achy all over so I took it easy, Monday my head felt like it was so full of pressure that if you were to take a pin and pop it, it would explode, but the good thing was I also had a sinus headache too!

I’m detoxing I’m telling myself, of course your going to feel crappy after 20 years of stupid stinky Candida in your body, of course I’m going to feel like poop, and I knew that going into it. By Tuesday, oh no, the inklings of bronchitis, the nose blowing, the coughing, the hoarseness, Wednesday was much the same. But come Thursday, blessed Thursday, I felt fine! I’m breathing normal, not up all night with coughing brown and green chunks – I made it! I made it all the way to the other side of detoxing, which can sometimes bring up old illnesses, but in shorter and not as full-blown episodes. But don't let that stop you from clearing the Candida.

When first taking the Candida cleanse, you start out with 1 packet a day, and eventually work your way up to 5 a day. I won't kid you, there was a lot of bloating and gas and visits to the bathroom, but I knew that was from the die-off, and if you could just hang in there through that, all I can tell you is I feel GREAT! I started with the Three-lac, Inulation and Activated Charcoal package and then order just the Three-lac several more times. I used this web site to order. I am in no way affiliated nor do I get a kickback from suggesting this site. They were very efficient in shipping the product.

I’m so happy I just have to tell you all. Don’t walk, don’t wait 20 years, run and do a free and easy check for CANDIDA now!

Search for Three-lac on the internet and order this product to help you control your Candida now, to help clear a myriad of symptoms that you probably wouldn't possible think are connected to Candida but are! Have I cured my chronic bronchitis! I hope to GOD! I want to shout it from the rooftops, getting your Candida in check is the most basic thing you can do for your overall health!

What took me so long? It wasn't anything I though was severe enough. I guess just not knowing the full extend of the long reaches that Candida has on your overall health and other problems that can come up that you don’t know are Candida related.

Candida to me, is like a little child pulling on your arm sleeve while your busy having your life, annoying, that is until it grows up into an adult, and knocks you down and sits on you and says “I’ve been trying to get your attention, will you listen to me know”! Don’t wait that long.
